2020.06.15

Hanmi Science (the holding company of Hanmi Pharm Group) plans to build a "Hanmi Smart Healthcare City" in Pohang Integrated Technology Industrial Park, which will be the cornerstone of realizing the future vision of Hanmi Pharm Group.

Hanmi Science signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on investment agreement with Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do and Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority at Pohang City Hall on the 15th. It plans to build a "Hanmi Smart Healthcare City" (HSHC) with an area of 51,846 square meters in Pohang Integrated Technology Industrial Park.

On the day of MOU signing, more than 30 people attended the ceremony, including Lim Jong-yoon, CEO of Hanmi Science, Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, Lee Kang-deok, Mayor of Pohang City, Kim Jin-hyeon, Acting Commissioner of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, and Ahn Sung-il, Head of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. A number of participants from Hanmi Pharma Group, including Vice Chairman Lee Kwan-soon of Hanmi Pharm and Advisory Committee member Jong-Cheol Lim, also attended the event.

"Hanmi Science" explained that the investment decision is part of the "Six Innovative Growths Plan" to realize sustainable growth through innovation in the post-COVID19 era.

On the morning of that day, Lim Jong-yoon, CEO of Hanmi Science, announced the six major topics of Hanmi Science Pharma Group (Cydio Cigma) and elaborated the long-term vision for the multinational biological enterprise.

Cydio Cigma, named by Lim Jong-yoon, includes six major goals: Cyber Education, Digital Bio, Oral Bio, City Bio, Green Bio and Marine Bio. With these tasks putting in place, Hanmi Science seeks to facilitate innovation in various fields.

This MOU marks the first step of Hanmi Science, Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority towards participating in the construction of HSHC worth 300 billion won. In HSHC, research and development center, training center, manufacturing and support facilities will be built in the future to achieve the six major goals of the Hanmi Group.

This MOU is a cooperation agreement signed on November 25 last year between Hanmi Science and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Gyeongbuk-do, aiming at sharpening the competitiveness of K-biology. After signing the cooperation agreement, Hanmi Science will cooperate closely with Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Gyeongbuk-do for research on the structure of cell membrane proteins using radiation light accelerators and cryogenic electron microscopes, and new drug development based on target protein structures.

Lim Jong-yoon, CEO of Hanmi Science said: "The pace of innovation has slowed as research, healthcare, and industrialization are inefficiently operated, such as R&D that cannot be industrialized in hospitals or R&D struggling to be applied in medical practice in the industry. Only through the construction of biological clusters jointly promoted by medical services, research and development, and manufacturing can we lead the global medical industry and contribute to the healthy life of mankind."
