The research group has successfully held the opening meeting for multi-omics integrated prediction model of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) at Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) on April 2, 2021. This project is funded as Metabolic Disease Prevention and Treatment Research Special Fund by COREE, the foundation of PUMCH.

This project is led by Professor Ma Liangkun from Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Professor Yu Miao from Department of Endocrinology in Peking Union Medical College Hospital. It aims to explore the core biomarkers and treatment methods for the prevention and treatment of GDM through the multi-omics analysis at various stages of pregnancy.

The original intention of establishing this special fund is to enhance the technical level of prevention and treatment of maternal and infant metabolic diseases, reduce the incidence of metabolic diseases and birth defects, improve the quality of population at birthday, and realize the safety and long-term health of mothers and infants. This fund is committed to researching on obstetrics, funding excellent research and teaching projects related to maternal and child health, and carrying out international exchanges and cooperation in the field of maternal and child health.

The incidence rate of gestational diabetes is as high as 10%-15% during pregnancy complications. Gestational diabetes mellitus will not only affect the health of pregnant women, but also threaten the health of the fetus. "Exploratory research on multi omics joint prediction model of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM)" will focus on the study of GDM related biomarkers. As an important cornerstone of prevention, diagnosis and precision medicine, it has important significance for early intervention and active prevention and treatment of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).

It is expected that this clinical research will help accumulate real, continuous and structured data, building the database for GDM and the multi-omics integrated prediction model combined with AI digital technology, so as to explore innovative digital therapy for the prevention and treatment of GDM.
